SENIOR SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT – Principal role focused on technical discovery, design and
recommendations of Cisco Unified Communications (with emphasis on contact center products),
routing and switching solutions (both campus and data center). Experience in virtualization of these
Cisco applications, as well as cloud-based collaboration services. Deep involvement in responding
to formal bid requests including extensive writing of proposals and statements of work. Extensive
use of software tools such as Netformx and Visio in creating designs to present to customers. Closed
key, high profile, new log business including a $6M multi-product solution in early 2013. Currently
involved in final sales stages of 20,000 phone university bid.
XO Communications – Oak Brook, Illinois – October 2010 thru August 2011
SALES ENGINEER – Provided pre-sales technical solutions designs and recommendations within
the Business Markets group for all voice and data services. Heavy focus on converged solutions
such as WAN services with SIP trunking. Also involved in supporting existing customers with
technical issues with their services and moving to newer technologies.
Qwest Communications – Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois – October 2001 thru July 2010
SENIOR SALES ENGINEER – Lead technical discovery, design, planning, and recommendations
for all voice and data services for new and existing business markets customers. Developed specific
strengths in helping customers move from legacy WAN services, to newer IP-based solutions, as
well as growing use of Voice over IP (VoIP). Consistently successful in closing sales and growing
business through a consultative approach that customers trust. Selected for the “Spirit of Service in
Action” award presented by Qwest CEO in Denver in 2006.
MCI WorldCom – Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois – September 2000 thru September 2001
EMERGING MARKETS ACCOUNT MANAGER – Responsible for prospecting, designing
solutions, selling, and supporting large accounts within this specialized segment. Focus was
exclusively on fiber optic SONET level access, ring and metropolitan area services.
MCI WorldCom – Chicago, Illinois – January 1999 thru August 2000
DATA GLOBAL ACCOUNT MANAGER – Drove data and international services sales
specifically within the largest Chicago area Global Accounts. Involved complex data services
designs, sales strategy, proposal generation, presentations, and contract negotiations on a global
basis. Product set included all types of data services around the world, such as: Frame relay, ATM,
private line, Internet, VPN, ISDN, DSL, managed services, remote access, EDI, web hosting, and
supporting CPE for these services. Exceeded year-to-date revenue plans.
MCI Telecommunications – Chicago, Illinois – December 1996 thru December 1998
CLIENT ACCOUNT MANAGER (ACCOUNT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER) – Originally
responsible for prospecting new logo accounts within the mid-markets segment then later
transitioned into long-term account management. Won and established the largest mid-market
account in Chicago, at that time. Sold and supported all types of voice and data services available.
Consistently exceeded quota, and won two national level sales contests.
MCI Telecommunications – Westchester, Illinois – January 1995 thru November 1996
TECHNICAL CONSULTANT – Designed and presented technical voice and data solutions to
customers. Attended customer meetings to learn the application requirements, then would translate
those into workable technical solutions. Incorporated technical designs and details into written
proposals, as well as presented them to customers.
Risk Sciences Group – Schaumburg, Illinois – January 1993 thru December 1994
DATA COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER – Managed and developed all voice and data
solutions for the Chicago branch office. Solutions put in place, and responsibilities, involved:
Implementation of a new Novell network for this office; Purchase and installation of a new PBX
voice system; Physical end-user workstation troubleshooting and repair; Planning and implementing
mainframe host connectivity solutions for end customers.
Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) – Chicago, Illinois – March 1992 thru December 1992
LOCAL AREA NETWORK ANALYST – Part of a team of analysts and technicians that
installed, supported, and provided troubleshooting of a large multi-floor Novell LAN within the
world headquarters building.
Kraft General Foods – Northbrook, Illinois – May 1991 thru December 1991
LOCAL AREA NETWORK ANALYST – This position was as part of a college co-operative
education program that involved a mix of part-time and full-time work along with college classes.
Supported and responsible for troubleshooting of the computers and LAN infrastructure.
MCI Telecommunications – Chicago, Illinois – October 1989 thru April 1991
TECHNICAL CONSULTANT - This position began as part of a college co-operative education
program that involved a mix of full-time and part-time work. Contributed as a member of the
